The Power of Choice

The Power of Choice by Tina van Leuven | #AspireMag

The only difference between a good day and a bad day is your attitude. The choice is always yours. ~ Dennis Brown

Have you ever noticed how life presents us with infinite options? Not a day goes by where you and I are not presented with opportunities to make choices. So how do you deal with all these options?

Do you embrace choice or do you abdicate your power to choose to others, also known as letting others decide for you?

It occurred to me the other day that most people will say they want freedom to choose but when it comes down to it, they often revert back to playing by the rules of limitation. I’ve certainly caught myself going there out of habit, especially at times I’ve made a conscious choice to implement changes in my life. Amazing how the voice of doubt or the inner critic can go on overdrive just when you’ve made a decision to break free.

I was wondering why this might be the case and it dawned on me that freedom of choice comes with great responsibility and power. The ability to respond, rather than react, is a choice and is filled with the power of creation. After all, how you choose to respond to the choices presented to you in each moment will determine the quality of your experiences, right?

If someone annoys you, what do you do? With some people and under certain circumstances you might not react at all but with others? Unless you remember in that moment that you are absolutely free to choose how you respond, then you might find your automatic pilot reaction triggered faster than you can count to two. Always an interesting experiment at family gatherings, particularly around the holidays…

Ultimately, what if the power of choice is an invitation to embody the freedom to BE your authentic radiant Self? No more people pleasing, conforming to expectations others have of you or which you have imposed upon yourself, no more saying ‘yes’to what drains your precious life force and no more blaming or shaming. Instead, living life full out and creating the most delicious and joyful version of YOU in each moment.

Liberating or terrifying?

If you’re content to live your life as others expect you to live, to wait for someday – just not now – to have permission to be free to do what you’ve always dreamed of, then I guess it’d be terrifying. I mean, you’re risking rejection, failure, disappointment or losing control. What might others think of you?!

If, on the other hand, you’re done with keeping up appearances, attempting to fit in and are exhausted from denying yourself the gift of your Presence, then my bet is that you feel incredibly liberated.

Perhaps you find yourself dancing in both realities while you’re developing your ability to discern what truly resonates with your core essence versus what has pretended to or tricked you. Which brings you to yet another choice point. Are you willing to forgive yourself for any choices you’ve ever made which resulted in disappointment or regret? Could you allow yourself to let go of all the judgments you’ve ever made about yourself and life?

What if all the energy invested in holding on to those past choices is now available for you to be infused into creating a life so juicy, so delicious, so scrumptious, that you’ll wonder why you didn’t discover or allow this sooner?

Be gentle with yourself. I’ve found it takes consistent practice to choose and allow what feels joyful since this is not something written in stone. It calls for a willingness to be present in each moment so that you may feel what uplifts you, what makes your heart sing, what inspires you…and to then take actions which support your choices.

Could it be possible that you’ve been waiting for this very moment to give yourself full permission to be free? Free to choose what resonates with your beautiful essence? Free to choose abundance in all its forms? Free to express the divinity you are in your own unique and delightful ways?

Perhaps you and I had a divine appointment for me to write this message and for you to read it at this time so that you might remember the truth of who you are and know you always have the power to choose.

What will you choose today?
