Inner Growth: Goddess Energy

Violet Ray Ascending: The Return of the Goddess
by Cris McCullough

violet rayIn 1986 I began my studies with an inspiring Native American teacher, Oh Shinnah Fast Wolf. I listened in awe as she described a traditionally held belief of her people, and knew, in the deepest knowing of my soul, that she spoke the truth. I grew up with the feminist movement, but have despaired over the increased violence in our world. As a new mother of three beautiful children, I was looking for hope, and I found it.

She recounted to me: A time has been predicted when the Dog Star of Mars will begin to remove its influence of hundreds of years on this planet. It will pull away from Earth, but in its wake there will be much conflagration as the old powers die hard and do not wish to relinquish their power. This aggressive male energy is the cause of war and the subjugation of women, children, and Mother Earth herself.

As Mars pulls away from Earth, Venus—the Violet Ray of the Feminine—will begin its ascent. Earth changes will occur. Women shall rise in power and an era of peaceful coexistence shall have the opportunity to commence. Mothers and children will be respected as carriers of humanity and Mother Earth shall be celebrated.

This is what I remember, and to a great extent, this concept has informed my subsequent work as an educator and therapist, working to empower women through the use of expressive arts.
Then, on August 27, 2003, came the announcement from NASA that Mars had come the closest ever to Earth, and that it would begin to physically pull away from our gravitational field. Venus would begin to have an increased effect.

While I am not a scientist, I am an observer of my reality and invite you to take a closer look at recent world events. On a global level, there has been an increase in violence and war; however, there have also been subtle changes in attitude that have gone unheralded by the media. Presently nine countries or governments boast a woman as head of state. There are presently 84 women holding seats in Congress, not to mention Nancy Pelosi’s appointment as speaker of the house, which puts her third in line for the presidency (should anything happen, Goddess forbid, to the present regime). On a political level, things are changing.
Attitudes towards Mother Earth are also shifting. Suddenly there is a real concern over global warming, an interest in alternative energies, and a willingness to look at our Earth as a precious resource, as truly a “mother” who nourishes life.

On a personal level, women are focusing on their health and the health of their families. Yoga, massage, and other healthful alternatives are being embraced. Rites of passage celebrations for both our daughters and mothers are increasing in regularity. Choice over one’s body, soul, and mind and the opportunity to be heard and catalyze change (think Oprah or Cindy Sheehan) are beginning to make a difference.

Old habits and paradigms may indeed die hard. We are always living in the shadow of our past choices. While doing so, I believe we can consciously make more positive choices in the now that will affect our children’s world. A more peaceful and abundant world could emerge. As women the world over begin to embrace their intrinsic “Goddess-hood” and come to accept their value as decision makers and stewards of our future, I feel that the return of the Goddess can indeed bring us all a better life.
