The Power of Feng Shui
By Beth Herosy

feng shui stonesEn∙hånce′, v.i. to make greater, as in cost, value, attractiveness, etc; heighten; intensify; augment.

We use enhancements in Feng Shui to intensify the positive influences in our lives, and to attract the positive experiences that we want to have. They are visual reminders for us, and even more important they bring the energy of the things we want in life into our environments, to take root and grow, and to be a magnet that draws to us the things we want.

The most important quality for an enhancement is that it be something that has meaning for you, in relationship to one of your goals or wishes. And there is no limit to the number of enhancements you can place in your environment. A rule of thumb would be one or two for each goal or wish that you have.

For instance, let’s say that you are feeling prosperous and would like to maintain that feeling, or even increase it. Place something in your environment that is a symbol of prosperity for you. Anything can be an enhancement. You could choose an $100 bill, a bowl of fruit, or a nice piece of art. Your enhancement will be tailored to you, and someone else’s would probably be different, because it is important for each of us to honor our own beliefs and our individuality.

If you would like to be in a wonderful new relationship, you could place something in your environment that you would have if you were already in that relationship, or pairs of things, or romantic art, or something else! Whatever works for you. And if you are sharing your space with someone else be sure to honor their choices for enhancements.

Written enhancements are also very powerful. Write down your goals and wishes and place them someplace where you will see them from time to time. Just make sure to keep written enhancements up to date by changing them as your goals and wishes change.

You can use photos too. To enhance an existing relationship use a photo of the couple. To create great relationships among family members, co-workers, or any group, use a photo of the group or separate photos placed in a single frame.

In fact, we can take this even further and say that everything you have in your environment is an enhancement! “Everything is talking to you”. All the time. Whether you are in the space or not, the energy of each item is being radiated into your environment. So, take some time to look at the “things” you live with and pay attention to your reaction to them. If it is positive, then that is an item you should keep in your environment. If you have any type of negative reaction to an item, or any person or event connected with it, the you should remove it from your environment. Can you imagine what it would be like to live with only things that you love?

Your whole environment is an enhancement, and our goal in Feng Shui is to make sure it is enhancing the things you want to have in your life, and not enhancing the things you don’t want to have!

For Practitioners:
Make sure that your work space tells the story of who you are and what kind of work you do. Of course you will be sure to display your business cards, brochures, degrees and certificates. But also take a look at everything in the environment, especially the artwork, and make sure it is all making a positive statement that is in alignment with your work, your goals, and your philosophy.
