Invite Positive Change!
by Beth Herosy

One of the guiding principles of Feng Shui is that there are direct connections between our environments and our selves. If you want to change yourself or the circumstances of your life, change your space. Here are a few suggestions:

Welcome New Opportunities

Clean your windows so you have a clear view of the outside.

Make sure there is nothing blocking the front entrance, even if it is not the entrance you customarily use. Watch out for overgrown plants; locks that don’t work properly; anything in disrepair, including lights, stairs, and walkways; clutter inside or behind the door; and clutter outside near the door. These scenarios can prevent energy from flowing unhindered through the doorway. If energy cannot enter your space, new opportunities cannot enter your life.

Make sure every door opens completely and swings all the way to the wall so energy can move freely. If a part of your space has blocked energy, you will have a corresponding negative issue in your life.

Hallways and especially stairways should be free of clutter. This keeps energy pathways wide open, and also keeps you safe!

Clean out your home’s most cluttered space; then see what changes in your life in the next week or two.

Get What You Want

If you want to create or improve a romantic relationship, set up the bedroom so it is comfortable for two people. Make sure you have similar nightstands and lamps on both sides of the bed to promote balance in the relationship. The bed should not be cluttered with excess—pets, pillows, or stuffed animals—or there may not be room for another person! Avoid images of single people or animals because they send out the wrong message. Designate some empty storage space for the belongings of another person.

If you endeavor to change your financial situation, focus on the area where you pay your bills and store your financial papers. Make sure the space is organized so you can sit down and do your work with a positive attitude and less stress. Don’t create a negative experience for yourself!

Hang up an inspirational piece of artwork. Get rid of any old, unnecessary paperwork, especially if it reminds you of negative past experiences. Make sure supplies are where you need them, or you may be promoting a sense of lack.

For positive health changes, focus on the kitchen and exercise area. If you want to lose weight, eliminate clutter. If you want to be healthier, make sure every element in these two spaces is in good repair, especially the electrical and plumbing. Leaky faucets can be draining for you.

Add positive enhancements, such as photos of yourself at a time when you were healthy and happy, and really nurture any plants in these areas. Keep them healthy and vibrant. Caring for your things relates to caring for yourself.

If you desire change, write down your goals and store them in the space relating to that part of your life. Write only in positive terms and describe what you want to happen. This is a very powerful tool!

You are connected to your environment, and you can make conscious choices about how if affects you. Choose the positive whenever possible, and your life will be filled with positive changes!
