With Mother’s Day approaching soon, we are reminded of the great power and responsibility granted to women to bring life into the world. While the act of pregnancy and giving birth is a life altering and affirming experience, it does not a mother make in full.
There are many mothers in the world who are loved deeply by people to whom they did not give birth.
These women understand the power and connection to the Divine Feminine. They know that the spirit of the Great Mother lives in every woman. To be a mother, is to embody the attributes of love, comfort and generosity, while caring for and honoring oneself. These acts evoke the divine feminine energy, allowing it to it pour forth, nourishing all who enter her space. When a woman lives in this expanse, she lightens the load of the world, brings peace to her family, inspires her friends, and rocks a man to his core.
Early in 2001, while teaching the ancient wisdom teachings to my students in my mystery school, I explained to them that we were going to enter a period of time where in order to evolve as human beings, we were first going to go through a challenging and difficult time where it would seem as if all was lost and that the darkest nature of humanity would appear in many forms.
I went on to explain that from the period of 2007-2014, we would see some of the worst of this lower level energy on display, as we were shifting from the last of a patriarchal age, into a new age of the matriarchal divine feminine. We would see war, famine, economic disasters, natural disasters and shocking displays of cruelty.
While we were enduring this difficult time, I also explained that we are cycling back to the age of the Divine Feminine, which will bring about a time of peace. Each woman deep inside is feeling this connection, for some it is a clarion call, where they must rise and take strong action in order to restore balance here on earth. For others, it is a stirring within to nurture their family, their friends and others in their community. Each woman does so in her own way, some with charity, others with the business they are building, the children they raise, and some are creating new tribes, gathering women of like mind who want to come together and make the world a better place.
Regardless of what difficulties you are currently seeing around you at this time, know that it is only temporary and a greater change is coming, one from the aspect and principle of the Divine Feminine energy, which is known as the Great Mother. As this energy surrounds us here on earth, the Great Mother puts out the call to all women to rise up, stand tall and assist in making tremendous changes here on earth. This is a decade for great change and a time for action. It is important to remember though, that cooler heads prevail and with conscious forethought, change can occur without having to sink to the lowest levels of physical, mental and emotional reactions.
When stepping into the energy of the Divine Feminine, women change the world through loving, kind actions, rather than through anger, jealousy and spite. It begins with women learning to love other women, rather than tearing their sisters down. It ends with the Divine Feminine energy circling the earth, with men and women loving, co-creating and living in a more harmonic state with each other.
One of my favorite authors is James Allen, who wrote the books As A Man Thinketh and As A Woman Thinketh. His books focus on the power of thought and how it affects our world. We can change the energy in the world and within ourselves with our thoughts. Once our thoughts are focused on love, kindness and joy, we then extend these thoughts outward into actions. As we continue to create this process, our thoughts, words, actions and deeds all unite and emit that positive, loving, joyful energy. This is felt by our children, even during pregnancy and sets the tone for how they will approach their new life. It is felt by our family, our partners, our friends, our co-workers and like a ripple on the lake, it spreads further and further throughout our community and beyond.
As more women hear the call of the Divine Feminine and begin to undertake these powerful transformations the energy grows until it creates an energetic grid, which connects around the earth, forming what is described as a “global consciousness.” This consciousness begins to feel natural to everyone on earth and the concepts of love, kindness, joy, peace and harmony begin to spread.
You cannot change a negative thought by replacing it with another negative thought. The way to change current thinking is to replace them with positive thoughts. Mother Theresa tried to explain this when she would say that.. “I am not interested in attending your anti-war rally, but when you hold a peace rally, call me and I will be there.” Anti-war is still addressing the issue of war, while addressing peace as a concept, directs the thoughts and energy to creating peace. If peace is the overriding thought, the issue of war is not on the table.
Author James Allen in As A Man Thinketh, covers the basic premise of how what we think on a daily basis, manifests in our lives. We have not understood in the past that our thoughts are not secret and internalized. What we think, we believe and we then create in our world. James explains here in his quote -
“Mind is the master power that molds and makes, and man is mind, and ever more he takes, the tool of thought, and shaping what he wills, brings forth a thousand joys, a thousand ills. He thinks in secret and it comes to pass; his environment is but his looking-glass”.
With these thoughts in mind, this Mother’s Day, I invited you to connect with the Great Mother, who is here for every woman and man. Open your heart to the energy of being with the Divine Feminine as she is here now as the Great Mother. Every woman is a mother, whether or not you have children. Every person you interact with, you have the ability to touch them with loving, Great Mother energy. Join me this Mother’s Day as we connect with the Divine Feminine Great Mother energy and as one her children, Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
Inside every woman, Yes, it is you to whom I speak, the Great Mother stirs and requests that her presence be known and validated.
When you look upon someone with kind eyes and smile,
you honor the Great Mother.
When you care for another who is ill or down or lonely,
you are the touch of the Great Mother.
When you stand to protect another soul and speak out against injustice,
you are the voice of the Great Mother.
When you love passionately- the children, the earth, the animals and yourself,
you embody the Great Mother.
And
When your life is rich with the greatest joys you could imagine and you see a child who is hurting and you would trade everything in order to bring them comfort,
you are the Great Mother.
To all the women who love and care for their parents, their children, their family, friends, pets, co-workers, complete strangers and random people they encounter everyday,
the Great Mother in me, honors the Great Mother in you, – Happy Mother’s Day.
